Dear Secretary General for Research at the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities and other relevant authorities,
Due to the prolonged instability at the center, and in light of recent developments regarding the situation of essential staff across various departments, 240 CNIO employees have signed a statement supporting the following points:
- We reject the dismissal of administrative staff, SAP technicians, information systems personnel, laboratory technical support staff, maintenance technicians, etc., as their work remains essential to the center’s operations, and they have at no time failed to perform their duties properly
- We express our deep concern regarding the context of ongoing uncertainty in the management of institutional crises, as well as the exploitation of workers in a media confrontation. These events directly impact the well-being of workers and could, in the long term, undermine the normal conduct of the center’s scientific activities.
Based on the foregoing, and following consensus reached by the group of mobilized workers, we demand the following:
- The full reinstatement of each and every colleague affected by the termination of outsourced subcontracting (Appendix 1) through the implementation of specific mechanisms that guarantee such reinstatement within one month. Likewise, we demand a halt to future terminations.
- The establishment of a support team for Management within the same timeframe indicated in the previous point, in order to facilitate the proper performance of the duties associated wit h the position.
- Establishment and formalization of action mechanisms designed to expedite the allocation of all necessary resources to ensure the center’s recovery and return to normalcy, free from controversies unrelated to the scientific sphere.
- Commitment to transparency and effective institutional communication.
Therefore, while we express our support for the new management of the CNIO and the Ministry of Science, we call for greater involvement from the relevant authorities to ensure a firm, structural, and lasting solution to this situation of instability. Furthermore, we will continue our protests if the requested improvements are not guaranteed within the specified timeframe.
Thank you for your attention,
Signed: CNIO Workers
