About the Collective:
The CNIO Workers’ Collective is a spontaneous initiative not affiliated with any union or other associations, created with the aim of safeguarding
the rights and improving the working conditions of all those who work
at the CNIO. It is composed of workers from different professional categories and
areas of the CNIO; we encourage the participation of as many people as possible from the center to
ensure comprehensive representation across the board.
Actions in progress:
- Gather active supporters for the movement through a survey; will bring greater diversity,
strength, and visibility to the movement.
- Meet with Management to discuss priorities and concerns
(sufficient support is required to be considered a significant platform to be received by Management).
- Create an efficient communication channel. The email account that was created is currently blocked;
a request has been made to create an institutional account as an alternative, which is currently reviewed by Management.
This portal was created as a temporary workaround.
Actions taken:
- May 11, 2026:: Several CNIO employees took advantage of the visit to the ISCIII Campus by the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz,
to deliver the statement signed by the 240 employess which we had previously sent to the Secretary General for Research at the Ministry of Science.
Her reaction was very positive: she showed understanding of our concerns and extended a hand to collaborate on
solving the problems affecting the CNIO.
- April 30, 2026: Five representatives from the Platform met with Eva Ortega, Secretary General for Research at the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities,
to present the Statement signed by the employees and to share
views on the current situation at the CNIO, and the measures the Ministry plans to take.
